Dutch Oven Pineapple Upside Down Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Place Dutch oven on stove and melt butter over medium‑low heat.
  3. Once melted, add piña colada cream sauce.
  4. Bring sauce to a slight simmer then remove half of the sauce and set aside.
  5. Add pineapple rings to pan, without allowing them to touch, and place cherry in center of each ring.
  6. Prepare cake batter using milk, oil and eggs.
  7. Mix 2 to 3 minutes or until batter is light and fluffy.
  8. Lightly spray inside Dutch oven with non‑stick cooking spray then pour in prepared cake batter.
  9. Bake 28 to 32 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean.
  10. Set cake aside to cool 15 minutes then carefully invert on a serving dish.
  11. Pour remaining sauce over cake before serving.

Chef’s Note: For extra sweetness and caramelization, add brown sugar to the bottom of Dutch oven before adding cake mix.
